⚠️ Medicare and grant funds — critical rule
You cannot claim both Medicare (MBS) and grant funds for the same consultation. For each patient interaction decide: billed to Medicare, or charged to the grant. It cannot be both.
Practical approach: Nurse-led screening clinics not billed to Medicare can be funded from the grant. Standard GP consultations billed to Medicare cannot also draw on grant funds.
Keep detailed records separating Medicare-billed from grant-funded activity. Retain all records for 3 years post-program for potential audit (Guidelines §4).
